Charitable Blooms March 2021

Because March is National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, we have selected The Hattie Larlham Foundation as our Charity of the Month for March 2021. They are located in Portage County , not far from our Kent location (Acorn & Evergreen Floral Studio). We are proud of our past partnership with Hattie’s Bakery and other programs…we sure miss those cookies.

Remember that 30% of the sale of March’s Charitable Blooms flower arrangement goes to the Hattie Larlham Foundation. We have also included an add-on donation feature at Check-out, just in case you find another arrangement you like better but you still want to donate to the Foundation.

Here's a litlle background on the Hattie Larlham Foundation:

The Foundation’s namesake, Hattie Gadd Larlham, was a nurse who saw a need for specialized care for children with physical disabilities. In 1961 she opened her own home to 3 children who needed care. As the waiting list grew to over 100 children, Nurse Larlham created the Hattie Larlham Foundation in 1963. The foundation built a facility to house and care for 50 children with disabilities.

The Foundation is a non-profit organization and relies on community support with donations, sponsorships, volunteers, events, and fundraisers.

The mission at Hattie Larlham is to enhance the quality of life for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families through a” commitment to comfort, joy and achievement.

Their core values include providing “services and supports to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, always respecting their CHOICES, through:
